Meet The Artist:
Sara Grace Lane
The paintings on the walls at Revitalize feature the work of Sara Grace Lane, a North Carolina painter whose moody, atmospheric landscapes bring a quiet sense of story and place into the space. Every piece on display is available to purchase and take home, frame included, and Sara Grace also welcomes anyone drawn to explore painting for themselves through her art classes. Her work is dear to my heart as we both share Eastern North Carolina roots.
About Sara Grace
Born and raised in eastern North Carolina, Sara Grace draws her feeling for natural scenes and atmospheric color from the landscape she still calls home. Working in oil and watercolor, she creates richly textured paintings that explore storytelling through moody, dreamlike scenes — each one an invitation to slow down and reflect. She graduated from Meredith College in 2024 with a degree in Studio Art, and now shares her original paintings through her business, Sara Grace Fine Art.
In Her Own Words
My artwork explores moments in time, visualizing thoughts and emotions through imagined scenes led by themes such as humility, perseverance, and resilience. Through oil painting, with definitive marks interacting with suggestive forms, I am invited to prayerfully reflect on the tension between innate gestures and thoughtful action.
As someone in my twenties, my work carries the hard years of growing up and coming of age. My practice provides a supportive place for me to wrestle with ideas of culture and faith while indulging in the joy of escapism. In expressing what lives in my mind to the tangible canvas, I choose to represent my concepts in a way that mirrors the rhythmic ebb and flow of a story or poem. I lean into their ability to portray a raw version of the human experience while also consoling us with artistry and wit, which can lead to mental freedom. The physicality of pushing glossy oils across a vast canvas feels both nostalgic and humbling. It reminds me of the importance of practice in my formative years. The scenes I depict connect to the eastern North Carolina aesthetic in which I was raised. The moody colors and natural environments not only reflect my roots in the American South, but they also allow me to demonstrate feelings of peace in tandem with melancholy. Painting remains a practice that encourages awareness through the meditative process, reminding me that I still create out of a childlike fascination for the material.
